New Chairman13 January 2012ATS announces the appointment of a New ChairmanThe Ashburton Trading Society (ATS) has appointed Phil McKendry as Chairman, with Ian Mackenzie as Deputy Chairman. ATS also welcomed new director Alister Body to the Board.
Phil McKendry replaces John Low who was Chairman of ATS for the past eight years ATS. John Low displayed an unwavering commitment and forthright leadership in his role as Chairman of ATS to ensuring ATS lowered farm supply costs for members said Phil McKendry.
The Board will continue to pursue the ATS vision – that ATS lowers the cost of farm supplies to its farmer members. We look forward to ensuring the on-going competitiveness and sustainability of ATS said Phil McKendry.
Phil McKendry farms a 200ha mixed cropping property near Methven. Currently Phil is a director of Electricity Ashburton, and formerly the founding chairman of the Barrhill Chertsey Irrigation Company and a graduate of Lincoln University.
Ian Mackenzie runs a 400ha irrigated intensive cropping farm at Eiffelton. Ian is chairman of the Eiffelton Irrigation Scheme and the Ashburton Community Water Trust. Ian also sits on the boards of Irrigation NZ and the National Board of Federated Farmers New Zealand.
ATS is a farmer co-operative within the rural supplies market based in Canterbury with three rural supplies stores and the ability for members to purchase electricity, fertilizer, and fuel along with a discount charge card.
