Community & Sponsorship

At ATS we see ourselves as very much a part of local rural communities and in turn enjoy giving support back to the community. This support often takes the form of sponsorship, and as is to be expected we receive many requests from a variety of community organisations, including charitable and sporting.

Policy guidelines have been developed to assist people wishing to approach ATS for sponsorship –

ATS does not sponsor individuals, but may sponsor local groups, organisations or events;
ATS’s business is based around agriculture and the agricultural community, therefore ideally sponsorship should relate to this area;
ATS will consider sponsorship requests that align with the values and brand of the cooperative;
All applications must be presented on the sponsorship application form which is available from the Marketing Department at the Ashburton Store.

Because we receive a large number of applications, the process of approving sponsorship is relatively formal.

Once the completed application form is received at ATS, we respond with a letter of acknowledgement. The proposal is then assessed against ATS’s sponsorship criteria to determine the fit, the benefits and the resources required (both monetary and human). Sponsorship proposals are considered once a month and need to be received by ATS prior to the 10^th of the month. It is important to allow as much lead time as possible when applying, to give us the opportunity to follow up any queries. Once the Sponsorship Committee has reached a decision, applicants are advised as soon as possible.

Of necessity, the sponsorship budget is limited, and while we would like to be able to support all sponsorship applications that meet our criteria, this simply is not possible.
